No St. Petersburg Race will be audited.

There will not be any audit of any St Petersburg Election races.

Why?

Candidate Leonard Schmiege and Mayoral Candidate Kathleen Ford's canvassing witness appointee Lauren Hallahan, attended todays certification and audit of the St. Petersburg election. After watching the board choose a race out of a bowl, they learned that only the city of St. Pete Beach would have an audit conducted. A race in which there were no candidates and only 1,640 votes cast among four precincts, one of which was chosen for auditing. Leaving out any audit of a race where 55,118 ballots were cast for mayor, and every other district race in the city of St. Petersburg. To state another way, our city election gets no audit whatsoever.

The three cities that had elections on the same day get lumped together and only one race gets audited. This should not sit well with the voters of St. Petersburg.

The Florida statute states in part ...
101.591 VOTING SYSTEM AUDIT
(2) ...The audit shall consist of a public manual tally of the votes cast in one randomly selected race that appears on the ballot..."

[the race being audited did not appear on any St. Petersburg voter ballot.]

The rule states (not the statute but the interpretation)

Rule 1s-5.026 POST-ELECTION CERTIFICATION VOTING SYSTEM AUDIT

(5) RANDOM SELECTION OF RACE AND PRECINCTS
(b) The Board shall first randomly select a race from all available races on the ballots. In the event that multiple municipal or other local elections are held on the same day in a county and the county canvassing board certifies the elections, one manual audit will cover all elections held on that day and all races involved in the elections, one manual audit will cover all elections held on that day and all races involved in the elections shall be available for selection of the race and precincts.
